I'd like to be able to automatically kill all unneccessary tasks in XP
(unnecc for running Crysis) and automatically resatrt them when I am done
playing.

I know about using Taskkill, but I was hoping for a more automated solution
that would kill of all tasks except those I choose to leave running and
restart the stopped tasks when I ask it to.

Anybody seen any such beast?

jim

Thats more of a script than a simple cmd, search scripts library, you may find

You can do that with a script or simple batch file or you can use a
third party tool like the one here: http://kensalter.com/software/
