Automatic Slide and Content Generation

I am attempting to create a powerpoint presentation that would automatically
generate the information on the slides based upon the data in an excel
spreadsheet. However, the presentation has to dynamically read the contents
of the spreadsheet. Basically, I work for an auction company and we want to
be able to create a powerpoint that will display during the auction and will
include the Lot #, Title, and Description of the item as it is being sold,
but it would not be feasible to do this manually because some auctions have
thousands of lots. All of the required information is currently stored in
excel spreadsheets. I have accomplished most of this by creating a photo
album of the items at the auction and using the slide number as the lot
number (since the items go in order of lot). However, I have been unable to
determine how to dynamically link each page (preferably using the master
slide) to a spreadsheet. I was thinking that perhaps I could somehow use a
formula to link dynamically to a row in the spreadsheet based upon the slide
number (which could correspond to the row number in the excel document). Any
ideas on how I can accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at our PPTMerge add-in. It's a commercial addin, but there's a free
fully functional demo you can try out.

http://merge.pptools.com

It wouldn't create dynamic links from the PPT to the spreadsheet but would allow
you to generate a new PPT from the data in the sheet with just a few button
clicks, one slide per row in the sheet. It'll even add the pictures for you if
you have the full path to the photo files in the sheet.

Hi,
Have a look at DataPoint at www.PresentationPoint.com to link Excel
information (and databases etc) for online viewing. This software is
already used by other auction companies. With its data scrolling
functionality you can set up and link 1 slide only and scroll thru the
data.

regards,
Kurt.
