After being on my computer for several minutes I get a
message that the NT Authority/System is shutting down my
computer because the RPC Terminated Unexpectedly. Do you
know what can be done to resolve this problem?

u have a virus, msblaster, turn on ur firewall and
download the update for it from the microsoft website

A service called RPC (remote procedure call, I believe) got terminated.

.... wait a minute, isn't this what the Blaster worm does?
You better check Microsoft's site for help on the blaster worm.
