I found a fix to get my automatic scan to work.

First, I am running Norton Internet security on this machine

I edited the MP Scheduled Scan

I added "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender" in the start in
and change the RUN AS to my loginID

The scan run as at the request time. However, the next time I logged in WD
had reset the options back. So I made my own schedule task with these
options that WD does not change ( I set WD to run when the PC was off - ever
though WD task will not run). It has been working for days, now. BTW, my
other computer without NIS did not need any modification.

1. Why does WD change the schedule task back? It changes the schedule time
to default 5AM and no start in

2. Since I like to run scans on one day a week (my night out) Why cannot WD
have the standard schedule options of being able to specify the day it runs?

I would like MS to answer the question why WD is changing the MP schedule on
login

Suggestion:
Since WD is only beta why did not MS offer an option liked it did with
Windows mail live to be able to return to the old version if you think this
beta does not work for you?

I think a warning should be posted before installing that this is a one-way
install since MSA is one longer available if you do not like WD.

Note: If MS was smart it would allow a back out option, users will get a bad
experience from this early beta and WD will be forever tainted in their mind.
BAD marketing move for MS.

The beta1 bits are still available at various sites, including
filehippo.com, fwiw. And definition updates are still available for it.
