Does anyone know how to adjust settings to make the
automatic/default save do so more frequently?

Is there a specific application that you want this to occur in/for?

TO adjust auto-save, go the Tools menu and
click "Options". Then click the "Save" tab. Under "Save
Auto-Recover" adjust the time to your pleasure.
