Automatic Page Numbering

I tried the automatic page/slide numbering through the
Header/Footer dialog box as outlined in a PowerPoint 2000
text. I indicated not to number the title slide,
clicked "footer", clicked "apply to all" and nothing
happened. None of the slides had page numbers.
What went wrong?

1) Are your slides based on the title master instead of the slide master?
Let it number title slides too, see what happens (it's not permanent ... you
can always turn it back off again)

2) Footer doesn't have anything to do with slide numbers. You want to put a
check next to, of all the goofy things, "Slide number" (oh, those wacky
Microsofties!) ;-)
