I currently have an HP970Cse with the duplexer module and have come to
regard the duplexer as a necessity. The 970's performance on text/graphics
is, to me anyway, excellent and I also like its photo performance with
photos on photo paper.

My primary need is text and graphics printing with photo printing coming in
second. Is HP the only printer that has a duplexer module available as an
accessory? I would like to go to a printer that has separate tanks for the
various color inks but the duplexer has become a "must have" for me.

HP is probably the only company which allows hardware duplexing (as an
accessory). Canon has software duplexer (the driver tells you when and
how to put paper in the tray). Besides it has separate ink tanks and
Canon original cartidges are cheap. It also doesn't clog, even when
you don't use it for a couple of weeks. And it's fast (and quiet)

It would be wiser, in my opininon to choose Canon because it gives you
those separate ink tanks and duplexing, well, it's still there, but
you must do it manually (not a big effort btw).
