When I open some emails that have html, outlook will open that email for 1
second and then close the entire program. No warning, error message. Nada.

Any suggestions or fixes? I'm lost.

What is your Outlook version?
Does it also happen if you start Outlook in Safe Mode?
Can you find any additional information in the Event Viewer?

* Safe Mode: Start -> Run -> outlook /safe [Enter]
* Event Viewer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/

Yes, it still does it in safe mode. When I also log on to an online account
(rapsody), it does the same thing. Closes the entire program, no warning,
nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

So, you have Outlook sitting open on your desktop. You open Internet Explorer
and login into the Rhapsody web site and Outlook closes? I just can't see how
that could happen.

I'm wondering if the OP is allowing scripts to run inside of HTML-
formatted e-mails. That is, he would have had to change from the
default of Outlook using the Restricted Sites security zone to using the
Internet security zone. I can't think of how a script could terminate
Outlook but then I'm not a malcontent searching on how to do so.

He never did say HOW he "opens" those HTML-formatted e-mails. Maybe
we're assuming he is looking at them in the Preview pane but he is
actually loading them into a web browser (that he doesn't identify).
That would also mean that it is the web browser that might be closing
instead of Outlook.

Logging onto Rhapsody (Real Network's music sales proliferation site)
would require using a web browser yet he is asking about problems with
Outlook.

have you checked the event logs, as I have suggested?

Yes, outlook is open. When I read an email with html (SOME emails), then
entire Outlook program shuts down. No warning, no error messages, nothing.
It does the same thing when I try to log on to Rapsody going through the Best
Buy Music Store. I've had it (Rapsody) for years and worked fine until now,
so I'm lost as to why the computer will not let certain things through. It's
like my firewall or settings changed, but I don't know what.
Any suggestions?

Are you saying you access Rhapsody via some application OTHER THAN Outlook and
that causes Outlook to close?

What's in the Event Viewer?
