How - Automate insertting text from one Word Doc to another

I have been asked how we can convert 2k Word documents. All of the documents
have the same type of layout today, and we want to move the contents of each
of these files into new files with a different layout. i.e. A defined
section\area in the old document maybe in a different position in the 2nd
document.

Does anybody know how this could be achieved?
