1) In which location are you looking right now?
For Windows XP it is located in;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 it is located in;
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
Note that the nk2-file is only a cache of addresses that you have used
recently. It is not a permanent storage location for your Contacts; that is
what your Contacts folder is for. If somehow the nk2-file gets orphaned,
you'll have to recreate the mail profile and start with a clean nk2-file;
you cannot restore the orphaned nk2-file then anymore.
See
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm
2) As said, the nk2-file is only a cache of recently used addresses. It does
not hold a direct relation to your Contacts folder. You can use the Check
Names feature to resolve additional addresses for a contact. For details
see;

To directly fill the nk2 cache with your Contacts addresses see;
