I copied the email address cache file from one computer using Outlook 2003 to
another using Outlook 2007. Autofill has been turned on, yet the new Outlook
email system doesn't recognize the email address cache, furthermore new email
is cached only as long as Outlook is open. If you close Outlook then reopen,
NO previous addresses autofill.

State precisely what you did. Explain how you made sure your cache could be
used by the new installation.

Hi Russ,

I followed the instructions on Microsoft online
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...CL100626971033

1. On the computer with the saved AutoComplete names, go to drive:\Documents
and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

2.Both computers are windows XP computers. The old Pc running Office 2003,
the nwe one Office 2007.

3. In the folder on the old PC Right-clicked profile name.nk2, and then
click Copied to a disk.

4. On the new PC, copied the file to drive:\Documents and Settings\user
name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook .

5. The Profile name was the same on both computers "Outlook".

Then most likely something is preventing Outlook from closing properly,
which in turn prevents Outlook from writing to the cache. Make sure you run
no add-ins or sync software that might hold Outlook open after you exit.

Thanks for you advice Russ,

I checked and there are some add-ins i probably don't need. Once the work da
is over, I try removing them. I'll let you know the result.
