How can I stop the "Autoexec.nt" file from being deleted from the "System32"
directory when I close windows down. If not, can I make windows copy a
backup of this file at start up?

Thanks for the reply.

I am already copying the file but would like to learn if it can be copied
automatically at start up. I had to perform a reinstall of XP. Before this
I never had this problem and I am wondering why it is an issue now. Could it
be due to a trojan horse infection after the reinstall which took some
removing?

Hi LeeG,

The automatic deletion of that file might be caused by some type of malware.
Have a look at this thread:
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...fe%40posting.g
oogle.com

if the above URL wraps around, copy/paste the entire URL into a browser
window or use this TinyURL:
