Hi all,
I'm suffering with a server which users cannot set their out of office
assistant, and are unable to download the offline address book.
We're using Exchange & outlook 2007, both fully patched inc the most recent
exchange rollup patch.

We're suffering from the what appears to be ususal outlook issue, where we
have to set the out of office assistant by using OWA, and when ever i try to
download the address book i'm getting the error message task "emailaddress"
reported error (0x80040110F): the operation failed. an object cannot be
found.

In outlook there are a number of regular sync issue messages which are not
downloading offline address book files. A server (url) could not be located
& 0x8004010F

I'm guessing the errors are related and want to know the best way of
diagnosing exactly what is causing the problem.
I'm again guessing that it sounds like an autodiscover issue.

TIA

apologies for the X posting, but i'm not sure which is the better group to
post this in.

Is this for external or internal users?
Have you verified that the EWS settings are correct?
Which results did the connection test gave you?

Hi,
sorry this only effects internal users

Re EWS, my thinking is that as OWA is working without any problem, that the
web side of things is ok.
Saying that the server does suffer from free / busy issues also, which may
be IIS related?

saying that, i have gone into the shell and run "get-oabvirtualdirectory"
and then on the server opened IE, put in the internal address the command
resolved, and i get a 403 error (after being asked to provide login
details). the path resolved as the oab location was interesting though, not
sure if this is correct but its;

internal url
http://<servername>.<domainname>.local/owa

is this correct?

is there a good way to get the results of the autoconfig off of a pc, are
the results in a log file somewhere to allow a copy and paste?

Regards

Hold CTRL when right clicking on the Outlook icon in the Notification Area
and choose Test E-mail AutoConfiguration...
Enable the AutoDiscover option and disable the rest. Provide your
credentials and then press the Test button.

The Results tab should give you all the published addresses for each
service. Verify that these are indeed all the proper addresses.
Additionally, you might want to check in IIS of the proper authentication
methods have been selected on the virtual folders for each service.

The fact that OWA and the OAB work, doesn't say anything about the OOF and
Availability Service.
