Autodetect problems

My system had to be repaired after a virus was able to
destroy system files. I didn't have to format, and then i
reinstalled all the system files from my XP cd
repairprogram. However, i have had recent problems with
my display adapter, a NVIDIA Geoforce4 MX440 64Mb, and
now the device manager within Control panel will not
detect this piece of hardware. I have tried everything,
but it still won't detect it. Can anybody help?
