I imported my contact list from Outlook on my old computer to Windows Mail on
my new computer. Sometimes the auto complete works when I start to type an
address into the address bar, and sometimes it doesn't. Anybody have this
happen to them and know how to fix it?

Nothing to fix.
Windows Mail only remembers the last 29 addresses that came up on your
computer, not your entire contact list.
For those that don't belong the " the last 29 ", you'll have to click TO to
find the name/address.
Windows Live Mail does remember the whole list.

As I reply several times a day....

The auto-complete in Windows Mail just doesn't work correctly.
It keeps a separate list of the last 29 addresses you've typed in, including
bad ones. This list is kept in the registry (in binary).
Just click on the To: button, and select your recipient.

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.
