Autocomplete does not work at all with my IE7 SP2. If I type in
"microsoft.com", it says it cannot find the file. I checked my settings andit
is activiated in internet options. I also tried the fix discussed in
KB256986, but for some reason, Windows will not allow me to delete the
referenced key. I have done spyware and virus sweeps numerous times, but
everything apperars to be clean. Any suggestions?

Please try the IE7 group.
The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...plorer.general

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few, but not all, of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

If you want better answers for IE7 questions please see:
