A friend has asked this question. I assume she means the full version of
Outlook, probably 2003:

In Outlook, when I start to type an email address, it auto-suggests several
names that I might be trying to email. This is pretty cool and handy, but at
the same time, annoying. Say I'm trying to email Debbie. I start to type
"D-e-b" and every Debbie I've ever emailed or received an email from pops up
in that little drop down. Is there a way to clear that memory out and start
fresh?

Please note that she doesn't want to turn it off, just clear it out. Please
also note that she could clear the names/addresses out of her address book,
but doesn't want to do that, either.

Locate the profilename.NK2 file located in %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook (a
hidden folder) and delete it. Outlook will recreate it the next time an
address placed in a recipient field is resolved.

The Contacts folder and the autocomplete name cache are unrelated.
