autochk.exe not found on boot

This happens now and then, not all the time. Autochk.exe is there in
system32 and I can run chkdsk C: /f too. But every once in a while
I get a blue screen and the message that its missing and then it boots
on up the rest of the way.

XP SP3 Media Edition. On a Dell Inspiron 6000. I've checked autoruns,
and I see an entry in the boot execute tab and some times
its not, and at the same time the image hijack tab has and entry "your
image filename without a path ..." too. I should also add that in
autoruns, I've got those two boxes for autocheck and image hijack
unchecked.

Other than an odd ball occurance, the laptop works. Just before
sending this I unchecked the autorun autochk.exe * entry and rebooted
and no blue screen. Also those two entries are missing out of autoruns
after it booted up successfully. (image and autocheck).

Any ideas? Is this worth chasing down, or am I causing issues by
unchecking it in autoruns.
