AutoArchiving

Autoarchiving does not appear to be working for a
particular user. Outlook creates the Archive.pst, and
the appropriate folder structure within it, but does not
move any items into it. We have adjusted archive setting
regarding age of items to be sure old items are covered
in the parameters, and still no items are moving.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check the Modified date on the items that aren't being archived as you think
they should. That's the date Outlook uses to determine whether or not an
item is ready to be AutoArchived, and a simple action such as moving the
item to another folder can change the Modified date. More information and a
list of actions that change the Modified date can be found here:

I had this exact problem for a user. The archiving
settings were for anything older than 1 year. Nothing
moved into the folders that were created. When I checked
the modified date (even though the user stated he had not
looked at the items in years) I discovered that they all
had the same modified date. This corresponded to the time
we (IT staff) copied the pst file from one location to
another. When I set the archiving to the date after
the 'modified' date, everthing moved. It looks like
forcing an archive prior to copying the pst from one
location to another is going to be our new standard
practice. This is a work-around, but it would be greatly
appreciated if MS would give us the option to archive by
date received, date modified, etc.
