WindowsXP Service Pack2 doesn't appear in Add or Remove Programs so I assume
it's not installed and want to install it. However, when I run Auto Update
it doesn't prompt me to install Service Pack2.

How do I install Service Pack2 if Auto Update doesn't prompt me?

(I don't have the Service Pack2 CD)

You can download it here:

Note the size of the file: 266MB

Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop. Your system is
described as the the first item on the general tab. Does it mention SP2?

Installing from an SP2 CD is more practical to downloading due to the
size of the download.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your post. I did as you suggested (right-click on My Computer)
and it says SP2 is installed, however since it doesn't appear in Add or
Remove Programs, how do I uninstall it?

(I want to reinstall it because MovieMaker 2.1 is not working properly.)

What makes you think reinstalling will resolve the MovieMaker problems?

PS: If WinXP SP2 came preinstalled on your PC, you'd either have to do a
Repair Install or a format & reinstall.

Good point. When I open MovieMaker at first it opens fine but a few seconds
later (without my touching anything) a window pops up saying "Windows Movie
Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."

I hoped that re-installing MovieMaker might fix the problem. Any ideas?

There is a news group dedicated to Movie Maker where you may get a solution to
your moviemaker issue.

microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker

Browse through the results of this google search concerning your specific error
message before posting to the group.
