Probably not possible, but is it possible for a user to import a list of auto
correct or Auto Text entries in Word 2007? I believe they are called Quick
Parts in 2007, but I see no way to create new ones, unless done one at a time.

There are some users who have 100 or more custom auto text entries created
on their PCs and they are converting to Vista PCs with Word 2007.

Just curious is all..

When upgrading to Word 2007, any existing AutoText and/or AutoCorrect
entries are automatically carried forward to the new version. In the case of
AutoText entries, they automatically become Building Blocks, and are stored
in the AutoText gallery (as seen in the Building Blocks Organizer). (Quick
Parts are a separate kind of Building Block, and show up in the Quick Parts
dropdown list.)

If they're moving to new computers rather than upgrading an existing
computer, it's a little more complicated. AutoText and formatted (or long)
AutoCorrect entries can be carried forward by copying the existing
Normal.dot to the default User Templates location on the new computer. This
location usually will be (in Vista):

D:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates


The first time Word 2007 is run, it will look for an existing Normal.dot,
and will use it in creating the new Normal.dotm.

Unformatted AutoCorrect entries are stored in an .acl file. I don't know
where this file is on your old computers. However, assuming it was Word 2003
(maybe 2002 or earlier, too... I'm not sure), in Vista, the file usually is
stored here:

D:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office

....and for Office 2003/2007, it is named MS01033.ACL. You should, therefore,
be able to transfer users' existing AT and AC entries, therefore, by copying
both Normal.dot and MS01033.ACL to the new computers... to the correct
respective folders.

It is true that the only way to transfer AutoText entries from one template
to another in Word 2007 is one at a time; the Organizer is not longer
available. It is, however, very easy to make available in Word 2007 AutoText
entries created in prior versions of Word. It's simply a matter of saving the
template containing the AutoText entries in the appropriate folder.

All you need to do to make the AutoText entries available in Word 2007 is
copy the Normal.dot template (or any other template containing AutoText
entries created in Word 2003) from the computer running Word 2003 and save it
into either one of the following folders on the computer running Word 2007:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name \Application Data\Microsoft\Document
Building Blocks\1033\ (Windows XP)
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033\
(Vista)
The \1033\Document Building Blocks folder did not exist before Word 2007.
The building blocks built-in to Word 2007 are stored in Building Blocks.dotx,
which is stored in either of the folders above.

The AutoText entries from Word 2003 will also be available in every Word
session if you save the template in the STARTUP folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\
(Windows XP)
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\ (Vista)

To access AutoText entries quickly from the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), add
the AutoText button to the QAT:
Click the Office Button to display the Office menu and click Word Options
to display the Word Options dialog box
Click Customize to display the customization option
In the Choose commands from drop-down list box, select All Commands
Scroll down to AutoText and select it
Click Add and click OK
Click AutoText button on the Quick Access Toolbar to display a gallery that
lists in alphabetical order all entries in the AutoText gallery

Oops! Except... I forgot to edit my D: to reflect that most users have Word
installed on C:. So, anyplace I said D:, I really meant C:!

Thanks so much to all the responses so far. i have tried Aeneas's suggestion
and ti worked, hwoever I keep getting a Macro warning. I have added the
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033\
as a trusted location but for some reason it still asks every time I try to
use an older Auto text entry from the normal.dot template.

I am going to try rebooting to see if that is necessary for trusted sites to
take effect.

If that works great, if not I might ask for other suggestions.

Thanks so much. the macro thing has been solved. I had copied the
normal.dot file to 2 locations as suggested:

C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033\

C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

When I removed it from both locations the macro warning went away, but so
did the auto text functionality. When I added it just back to the 2nd
location the functionality returned, but wtihout the macro prompt.
