Auto Spelling Check not working

I repeatedly go to Tools>Options>Spelling and SELECT "Always check before
sending" message, but everytime I send an email, it never checks. Emails
are sent with a mistake that is never caught. I have Outlook 2007. HELP!
It worked when I had 2003.
