I am new to XP. When My cursor hovers too long it
automatically selects whatever it hovers over, How can I
stop this. (I have to keep the cursor moving so it will
not select every item it is over)

I have my Folder Options set up this way, and do not find it a problem, as I
do not click on the selected item. How much does this bother you? Because
there is a tradeoff: hover-to-select accompanies single-click opening. I
happen to find double-clicking to be a monumental waste of effort. If you do
NOT mind double-clicking, then go to:

>>Start
>>Control Panel
>>(Appearance and Themes)
>>Folder Options
>>Click items as follows (select your option)
