Auto -resource scheduling

I'm confused on the automatic resource acceptance. (Tools|Options|Preferences|Calender Options|Resouce Scheduling)
When you set this to automatically "Automatically accept meeting requests and process cancelations", does that only apply to "Resources" and not to those added to the "Required" or "Optional" boxes? Does a person need to be scheduled as a resource? We're getting strange behavior from this feature. Attendees not showing as accepting the meetings and then sometimes not appearing on the schedule etc.

Correct. Automatic resource booking takes place only when the resource account is invited as a resource.
