I am using Outlook 2003 on stand alone PC with POP e mail account from Road
Runner. E mail sent to my address is receiving an auto reply that I am on
vacation but I did not set this up. According to the info I find on OUtlook
2003, the auto reply function is not available unless you are using an
exchange server. I don't know how this could be happening but mostly - I
don't know how to stop it so I can get my e mail???

Somebody help please?

Is it happening even if Outlook is not running?

Use the webmail interface to your e-mail account to check server-side
options. You might have your provider's auto-responder option
enabled.

Sometimes I think my computer does strange things just to upset me. It seems
it only did this a couple of times and now is sending things through just
fine. I really can't say whether Outlook was running or not when this
happened but I have noticed though that if I leave Outlook running so that my
pop mail server does not go over quota, then I lose my Spamfighter function
on my Outlook mail and the only way to get it back is to re-boot, so I
generally do not leave Outlook running when I am not actively using it.

My provider's web mail service does not include this option.

No - It seems to have fixed itself. It was just messing with my mind!

This is happening to me also. Whenever someone emails me, they get an auto
reply from me that my computer has crashed. I did not set this up. The
message ends with, Thanks, Bev (my name). I also have Road Runner and use
Outlook 6, 2004 and do not have capability to set up auto reply, yet somebody
is. I do not know how to stop this from happening.
I need help too. Bev

Bev,

Take a look at RoadRunner's web based mail reader. I believe they have an
autoreply there that you may have configured.

Wow! it worked....thanks FH...now I'm wondering how the message got there. It
had several misspellings, so it was not something automatic. thank you so
much. Bev
