How to auto-remove no longer existing devices (e.g. CD-ROMs) from diskmgmt.msc ?

When I call diskmgmt.msc then there is still an old (meanwhile physically removed CD-ROM device)
listed as drive F:

How can I tell WinXP to AUTOMATICALLY search for existing and non-existing devices and to remove
non-existing devices from DiskManagement console display?
