auto open macro when opening from template

I have a template saved as an .xlt file.

I want a userform to automatically load when a document is created
from the template by double clicking on it or opening using file and
new. The Userform is only needed when the new document is created.

I have entered an auto open section in a module, and although this
works when I open the template itself, I get a run time error when I
try to open a new document from the template.
