I had a workstation with Windows NT. It was later
upgraded to Windows 2000. Any folder that was open when I
logged out would be automatically opened in Windows
Explorer when I logged back in. I like and want this
behavior.
Recently, our IT group gave me a new workstation with
Windows 2000 and it does not re-open the previously open
folders.
The TweakUI application has a setting for this. I've used
it to find the relevant registry entry. I see it toggle
when I switch the appropriate setting. Curiously, both
machines have the same setting but it doesn't work on the
new machine.
The registry key is:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Exp
lorer
The registry entry is:
(Default)
The registry value is:
00 00 00 00 (to re-open the folders)
01 00 00 00 (to not re-open the folders)
Searching the Internet I've found other postings that
suggest this problem is caused by Internet Explorer 6. It
is plausible because the old workstation had Internet
Explorer 5 and the new one has Internet Explorer 6.
Can anyone help me? I want the same behaviour I had
before (i.e. reopen the folders that were open when I
logged out). Please email me.
Thanks,
Peter
