AUTO-LAUNCH SLIDESHOW WHEN FILE IS OPEN

I've created a PowerPoint presentation that I want to e-mail to a
distribution list and when they launch the file have it automatically launch
as a slide show. I need it that way so that the animation that I've added
will play when it's launched.

Is there a way to set that as a default on the presentation?

Thanks.

If they all have PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer installed, all you need to
do from your end is to save the presentation as "PowerPoint Show (*.PPS)" or
rename the file you have, giving it a .PPS file extension.

I tried what you wrote, by adding the file extension .pps. However, when I
launch the file it doesn't open it in slide show mode.

Any ideas? F.Y.I., I'm using Powerpoint 2003.

In that case maybe your file associations have been tampered with. The .PPS
file extension should be set to run in PowerPoint 2003 with the following
command:

You can determine what your system is set to by:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Click on Tools > Folder Options > File Types
3. Locate and select PPS
4. Click on Advanced
5. Under the list of Actions you should see New, Print and Show. Show must be
in bold. If it is not, select it and click on "Set Default"
6. Click OK and then Close
7. Close PowerPoint if it is open
8. Locate a PPS file on your system and double click it.
9. Does it open in Show mode?

If not, try the other tips at:

Check the bottom about hidden file extensions. That may be the problem.
