My PC keeps disabling Auto Insert Notify (for CDs and removeable media).
Although I have the necessary registry settings in a .REG file so I can
easily restore the approriate registry settings, it isn't very long before
it has disabled again.
I had hoped that my recent rebuild would have clobbered the problem, but no:
it is still doing it. I note that there is a MS knowledgebase article on
the subject, but it only tells you how to re-enable auto insert once it is
disabled, not why it disables in the first place.
In any case, it requires a reboot to re-enable auto insert notify placing
the PC out of use for the 8 minutes it takes to reboot.
Does anyone out there know why this keeps disabling. The PC is virus and
malware free (according to the available utilities)
