A few months back, I was asked by the browser to save the passwords &
usernames, so I did so. it all worked fine until i tried opera, then now
firefox. now in ie7, it seems all of my p/w's or usernames have vanished!

how can i find the spot where i can see if they are there & is there an
on/off click - for lack of a proper - to set the auto fill in to off or on ?

many thanks

anyone or are you boycotting me like tom, the ng monitor ? i hope not as i
come here for help.

i noticed tom ad not posted a single reply top anyone since before my post
of 7/22 re: the browsers, until that is, after he read my post to him, now
this morning, i see he provided a sarcastic www.google.com to someone else
looking for help. if the guy is like me, & i hope not, for his sake (!), he
did google it - 95% of the time, i start there, but i don't understand their
answers as their terminology i cannot comprehend.

so tom, rather than being class monitor & being sarcastic, why not help
someone ? seems there are, or should be 2 groups of people here; those who
know & teach, & those like myself, that don't know & try & learn; then
there's tom - he doesn't give advice re: a query, rather, he puts on his
monitor badge, puffs out his chest & re-directs people to other sites. that
said, he's even failing at that as i have seen many o/t posts, where he did
not hassle them as he did me. i mean if you can help someone re: of the fact
it may or may not be exactly what you think should be here, then help the
person. don't just sit back, not offer any help & when you do post, you tell
people to go elsewhere!

I try to live by luke 6:31 & for the most part, it has worked out for me -
you might try that tom.

If you have run or been advised to run any disk or temporary Internet
file "cleaning" type programs, there is almost always an option to
remove the information you seek - permanently. You can also choose
not to remove it or recreate it as you go (start over). I suspect it
is gone.

Each browser configuration is different.

Pick one and get it working. If you pick Internet Explorer, I don't
want to play. I don't have any compleeing reason to use Opera but do
have Firefox and Chrome. On your browser of choice, enter some
credentials and see if they are retained or not. Just get one browser
and one web page to work.

These files of information are usually classified as "temp"orary
Internet files since they will be recreated when you enter your
credentials again. It is easy to go overboard with cleaning or not
get any warnings about the consequeneces (this is one of them).

Does any of this sound familiar in the last few months when you auto
fill quit working?

You can of course (over time) get back to a point where some popular
fields being filled by entering the information again and selecting to
retain it the next time you do a clean up. It just takes time.

jose, thanks so very much for this; much appreciated.

not a fan of ie, eh ?! so far, i am not a fan of any of them; them being
ie, opera, firefox & maxthon. some won't access my credit union site, then
they have other issues.

anyway, to the point at hand, first, could it be i use 2 different browsers
at the same time ? i never had any issues running ie & maxthon together,
until i could no longer access my banking info.

the only thing i have done differently is to uninstall & reinstall another
browser. i regularly use disk cleanup from the ie menu, did so in the past &
still the system retained all my usernames & passwords. also use adaware,
super antispyware, avg & ccleaner once a week, but i always have done that.
with no problems in losing my users & passes. it seems that when i changed
from maxthon to opera first, then firefox, it no longer saved that info.

any other questions please ask as i want to try & resolve this.

again, jose, many thanks for your assistance

Nope, I'm definitely not boycotting you. I let "read" messages go
hidden, so the only post I'm seeing right now is this one, not preceding
posts. I could reassemble the thread so I can see it all, but ... I
don't think it's necessary.
If I respond and then stop responding, it's usually because I either
think someone else has started to provide more targetted advice or have
reached the limits of my ability to help out. I -think- , but could be
wrong, that I indicated to you I wasn't able to offer anything further
of any use. Perhaps not; not sure of that.

AFAIK no one is boycotting you for any reason and I don't recall seeing
(of the posts I read) you say anything that would result in anything
like that either. As is usual with Usenet, you need to have a slightly
thicker skin than normal on the newsgroups and not let the smart alecks
bug you. It's just the nature of the Usenet groups, unfortunately, which
is what these are even though they have Microsoft in their name.

HTH,

Twayne`
