Auto-deleting old emails

Hey all

OK, in the Outlook client, you can auto-delete old emails by right
clicking on the inbox, selecting properties, selecting 'AutoArchive'
and then the radio button 'archive this folder using these settings'
AND 'permanently delete old items'. However, this then becomes almost
a client-based 'rule' and I guess only works when the Outlook client
is open. What I'd like to know is, is there any way of applying a
SERVER based rule that automatically zaps emails that are, say, 30
days old, either through AD or uploading a server rule?

Thanks for any contributions

Well, the first thing, this really is better asked in the Exchange side,
since you want this to work when Outlook isn't working, it will need to be
done on the server. microsoft.public.exchange.admin would probably be the
first place I'd go.

I vaguely recall a setting where you can tell Exchange to remove any
messages older than a specific time frame, but my google-fu is coming up
blank at the moment.

Thank you. I shall heed that advice and give it a whirl!
