Auto Complete Problem (Outlook 2002)

About a week ago, one of our users started experiencing problems with auto
completion of names in the To: field. After inserting the first two names
using auto complete, when she attempts to add a third name, her PC hangs for
several seconds before the name fills in. I have logged on as her on another
computer, and have the same problem.

I deleted her .nk2 file, but that did not solve the problem. After I had
selected three names in the first e-mail sent after deleting the .nk2 file,
the next time I got to the third name in the To: field, the problem returned.
This happens regardless of what name in being inserted; the only common
denominator is that it always happens with the third and subsequent names.

Any suggestions as to what would cause this and how I can fix it would be
greatly appreciated.

As I will be upgrading this user's Outlook soon, that will probably take care
of it since she will receive a new profile with the upgrade.

Thanks very much for your suggestion.

For the record, the causes for this behavior are:
1. Outlook failing to exit properly between sessions so that data is not
written to the cache.
2. Corrupt cache file or a cache file that has been marked read only by AV
software.
3. Corrupt profile.

For the first, make sure Outlook has exited completely. For the other 2,
create a new profile.
