I cannot get the auto-complete of addresses to work. Some of the addresses go
in once I start typing them in,but others have to be typed in manually. I
have the tab marked to fill them in automatically. Help. Thanks

Only the last 29 contacts to whom you sent an email will be available via
AutoComplete.

What if I want to send an e-mail to someone for the first time? It will not
automatically complete it for me.

After installing IE8 I can't open photos or I'm getting a can't open previous
email attachments. How to delete 8 and return to IE7. I'm not a computer
wizz. If the maker would improve the quality instead of coming out with a new
product every year maybe we could enjoy and learn how to use a system but
that doesn't make more money. This lousy quality is wearing me down. chuck

LOL
How could the system know what you want to type?
There's no crystal ball built-in <bg>.

In the long run it will pay if you create contacts and select the
addresses from there.

Should it not use the info in the contact list?

Why are you jumping on someone else's thread which has absolutely
nothing to do with *your* problem - and hijacking it??
As far as the attachment problem is concerned there are dozens of
threads which you might easily have detected with a tiny little bit of
care ...

Yes, there is a problem with attachments (I call it the IE8-WinMail bug)
which affects quote some systems (not the majority, however). So far no
one knows what might be the resin and there is no fix available - except
uninstalling IE8. The latter will automatically IE7 again.

The problems can be reduced to JPG and TXT files (all other files types
opening fine with a workaround):
Right-click on the shortcut that you use to open Windows Mail.
Select Properties. In the field labeled 'Start in' change the entered
value to %UserProfile%.
Click OK.
Restart Windows Mail and try opening attachments.

JPGs and TXTs can be opened after saving them.

On how to uninstall IE8 pls see
KB Article 957700: How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer
8?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700/en-us

Can't say if it "should" <g>.
It does simply not work this way.

But one can get very close to what you want.
If an address is already available as a "contact" one can just type a
few letters in the address field an leave out the rest - f.e. just "mil"
for "George Miller".
I one clocks in the "send" icon, the system will look up the names in
the contacts and if there are several matches one gets prompted with a
dialog to select the one wanted.

I for one hardly ever type in a name in the address field. I just click
on "To:" and then select the name from the contacts list with 2 or 3
letters.

It should... but it doesn't.
That's why MSFT has replaced Windows Mail with Windows Live Mail.
