Hi,

I'm not sure whether I posted this in the correct
newsgroup.

I have created an Excel file that has auto link (everytime
to open) to a query of my existing database. The purpose
of this Excel file is for some read-only users who are
afraid to use MS Access.

I have observed that whenever someone open the linked
Excel file, my database application slow downs in terms of
opening the forms, reports, etc. Am I right to this
observation?

What I'm doing now is creating a regular backup of the mdb
file and use this as the link to Excel instead of the live
updated mdb.

Am I doing it right or is my idea logical? How could I
create a regular auto backup (say every hour) of the
updated mdb and overwrite the existing backup.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Carlos

This group handles questions on User Level Security for Microsoft Access,
the database product included with Office. Try ms.public.access
