authorisation fails for Outlook accounts -- Symantec fax problem?

I just installed the Symantec fax tool that cam with Outlook 2000, so that I
could send a message to a fax machine. Now, I cannot use any of my POP
accounts in Outlook.

I had the "Remember password" box checked for each account, and all of them
failed to authorise. Re-entering the passwords doesn't help.

I stopped using Symantec anti virus products because they kept messing up my
Outlook account settings. I wonder if this is the problem again -- but worse.
The settings look OK, so I have no idea what to try next.

Any suggestions?

Try it again with Symantec FAX SE disabled and you will soon find out.
What operating system is this on btw?

I was more worried about Symantec messing up Registry settings or DLLs, but
I'll try certainly your advice.
