Dick,
If you make a great movie in MM2 that runs 30 minutes, you'll get one icon
in something like MyDVD that will run the movie. If you want to let users
have a few icons to go to different segments of the movie on the DVD
version, that's part of 'authoring'. So the basic DVD menu structure is
created in the 'authoring' software... then when you finish the authoring
you burn the whole package of video and menu files to the DVD.
You need to do more cute things in the DVD software so people are smiling
before they even start the movie. For an example of a poorly authored DVD,
see the figure on the CD Burning > HighMAT page of my site. It's the same
thing.... authoring a HighMAT CD is similar to authoring a DVD.... see that
my menu lacks an appropriate title and most of the six selections (each a
movie) lack appropriate names. And the black background might better be
blue.... and the thumbnails could be animated like they can be in MyDVD....
etc, etc. all parts of authoring.
