I have a two pc intranet working ok, but when I try to publish a web page
from the client pc to the server pc web, I am prompted for a Name and
Password.
I see in My Network Places the page Owner is James, the Author is blank. No
password is required on the server pc. So, what the heck is this password
prompt looking for? thanks in advance -Fred

It is looking for a password. A blank password is not acceptable to
FrontPage.

Are you publishing to a Windows 2000 / 2003 Server or Windows XP Pro?

Yes, I know. I also tried creating a password for this user, but still it
wasn't accepted, and then removing this users password -same prompt either
way. thanks -Fred

I have inherited a site to update and am experiencing this same problem. My
predecessor did not leave any information regarding the name or password and
I get the message: This operation requires author permission: 80. Our
company is currently using Yahoo for web-hosting.
Did you receive any further feedback?
Thanks!

You need to contact Yahoo regard authoring permissions, as you can not set or access them from your
PC.

I finally got it working after reinstalling IIS and making several guesses,
so I'm not sure what the problem was. I think your problem is different
though, as I knew the username and password (which works now without ever
changing it), but it still wouldn't get past the password prompt. In your
case, if you have the correct username and password you may be ok. -Fred
