To start with I had a single domain with a single Domain
Controller. Recently I added another DC to the domain.
Immediately I began having, what I believe are,
authentication problem when the task scheduler and other
applications run. Has anyone run into this problem and
discovered a fix for it?

Make sure both DCs are using the same DNS server and not an ISP's. If so,
remove the ISP's and use a forwarder and the problems should go away.
