Hi:

is it necessary to install a special software component on
the W2K-server, if we would like to turn on auditing file
access ?

Any tip is appreciated,

Bill

Well you can enable auditing of object access and then enabling of
folder/files in their properties/security/advanced auditing but that will
generate lots of system related events. If you try this, only audit critical
folders and only for bare minimum access permissions and try to avoid using
the everyone group as the group to audit. --- Steve
