Dear Community,
as stated in the headline I can successfully establish an audio
connection with MSN Messenger 6.2 under Windows XP Prof. SP 1 with my
friend who also uses MSN Messenger 6.2 under Windows SP 2. Yet it will
not work with the Windows Messenger 4.7.2010, which only allows text chat.
I use a Linksys Router BEFW11S4 Vers. 2 with the latest firmware. My
friend uses an older SMC router, which I am not sure of that it actually
supports UPnP. The UPnP on my router is activated and I checked under
network options for UPnP and gateway awareness.
While MSN Messenger recognizes a UPnP NAT Router, Windows Messenger does
not (according to Tools -> Connection).
Might an upgrade to Windows Messenger 5.1 solve the problem? What's the
difference between 4.7 and 5.1?
I would prefer to use the Windows Messenger over the MSN Messenger, as
it does not pop-up MSN windows and has less bells and whistles.
I appreciate your comments and help.
Regards,
Philipp Naubereit
