Is anyone having issues with their audio producing
stutters? It's real quick - perhaps a split second, but
totally noticeable. Kinda like a machine gun. I've been
trying to find info on this, but there doesn't seem to be
a resolution at this time. All players seem to produce
the stuttering, so it's not player specific. I've tried
reinstalling the sound card drivers and installing
codecs. I haven't seen any improvement. The stuttering
occurs randomly and at least a handful of times per song -
mp3s or CDs. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

My audio, in rapid fire succesion, keeps muting and
unmuting itself. Same as yours right??? This is crazy,
never seen anything like
this. My audio icon on my taskbar shows it as
well, "stuttering" from mute to unmute like a machine gun
as well. It will somehow fix itself after a while but
begin
again shortly afterwards. I am running windows XP home
edition, I downloaded SP2 about 5 days ago and this
started yesterday, I also ran defrag. Anybody got a clue
for me??? rebooting,or shuting down and rebooting does
not work and I have
checked the connections as well.

You feel my pain. This sucks. I put together my first
computer and have been dismayed at not having it work
properly. I don't know why it happens, but I've seen
other posts on the net from people with the same problem,
but nothing has seemed to have worked for them either. I
am goin to try to change the location of my sound card n
see if that does anything - I've seen that suggestion
before too. Good luck n let me know if you find a
solution. If I do, I will let you know.

I've had similar problems with stutter while working with
audio files in Cakewalk Home Studio 2004XL and Mediaworks.
Mediaworks even quit working (locks up) just after the SP2
update. Cakewalk Home Studio has stuttered heavily since
I installed Symantic's Norton System Works. Although a
good software package it uses a ton of processor time and
memory. I was able to regain audio stability by using
msconfig to turn of all of the Antivirus and scan
processes while I was working with music files (off
line). This eliminated my stuttering problem.
Good luck.

I sstarted getting this problem after I installed SP2.
Did you install SP2? Can't help you with a fix. Hope
Microsoft is working on one.
