Audio Recording 'Noise' Problem!!

Something keeps happening every single time I record
a audio file from my microphone. It records background
hiss... At first I thought this way my microphone doing
this, so I unplugged the microphone and then I
clicked 'record' and it STILL recorded the same
background hiss... This got my thinking it's the
program, so I tried several different programs but the
same thing happens.

When I play a music file and I have the file playing
while I'm recording from my microphone, you can hear the
music in the background of the recording... BUT, then I
tried letting the music play, and turning OFF my
speakers, so that the sound is inaudible (but I still
have the music playing on the screen), it STILL picks up
the music very faintly in the back ground of the
recording!!

And I don't have an internal Mic...

Can you PLEASE help me!!

You probably have the 20db boost on, by default. Try turning it off and
setting your MIC gain manually and you'll get MUCH better microphone
recordings and should do away with the hiss, which is caused by the high
gain for the mic pramp when the 20db boost is on.
