I have Windows XP installed and have had so for 4 years!. Suddenly, when
I boot up, the op system Audio program is always set on minimum. There is no
"boot up" noises and subsequent programs that issue sounds, music etc etc
remain silent. The solution is quite simple! I click on the "Volume" icon in
the tray and a slide appears set at the minimum volume. I slide the control
to max and hit Return and all is OK. This is quite frustrating. I have
searched everywhere but cannot find where to set this control to maximum on
boot up so I am condemned to go through the above procedure each day
forever!!! Can someone please release me from this frustrating procedure ?

If this just happened, why don't you just use System Restore to a previous
restore point when it was ok?

Go into control panel---sounds and check all settings there. Make sure you
are configured correctly, such as 'monitor speakers' if not using any 'line
input' that it is set to mute..
