Try device mgr,expand the sound tree,R.click on sound hardware 1 @ a time,
select "uninstall" do this for all its sound hardware (do not restart pc
after each),
close out when thru,if any sound software was installed,uninstall in
add/remove,
shutdown pc after,power off (unplug)..Move the pci sound card to another pci
slot,restart pc when thru,xp will reinstall card from scratch...
