Hi all,

I recently upgraded my operating system from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home
Edition. One strange problem I've had since the upgrade is that I now can't
get any sound from my Roland SC8850 sound module through my PC monitors. I
hear all other system sounds ok & CDs & MP3s play fine but nothing from my
SC8850.

I've had the SC8850's main L & R audio outputs connected to my PC's Line In
via an rca-to-small stereo jack-cable & this setup has worked fine until
now. The headphones output on the SC8850 seems to work fine but I now can't
hear any sound fgrom the SC8850 thru my montiors. Any ideas on how to
rectify this situation?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Chris

Due to the upgrade from 98 to XP, your drivers are no longer effective.
You'll need to go to the manufacturer of the SC8850 website and download
updated drivers and install them.

Check to see if your line input is muted, which it is by default when XP is
installed. I have a Creative Audigy and that's how it comes up after
install. It should stay unmuted once you unmute it for the first time. I use
a Roland SC8820 module on mine, but I feed it's output through a cable setup
I made, into the Audigy's AUX input, which I had to enable using the mixer's
advanced settings.

Thanks for the replies guys, the problem has been solved. The Line In was
muted somewhere along the chain.

Cheers,
Chris
