audio gone

I have had the video and audio working before, and now the audio won't work.
I t says audio is connecting and then it disconnects by itself before audio;
is established. The video is working just fine.
The audio/video wizard(tools) says everything is woking fine at both ends.

This is messenger 6.1 with windows xp home edition .
