Today I started my computer up and none of my mp3 or video files would play
in any of my software. After dling the latest version of winamp, my primary
audio device, everything worked again but now I can't adjust the volume in
my sys tray it says:
There are no active mixer devices available. to install mixer devices, go
to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add
Hardware.
This Program will now close.

So why did this happen literally over night and how do I fix it? thank you
for your help in advance.

Sounds like you need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card.

Download the latest, from web site for your sound car maker.
