Audio Codecs required to run Vista Games?

My new Vista computer has no Audio Codecs installed yet (not that I can find).

Are some codecs required for Vista gaming?

Some games have long intro cinematics (WoW) and short in-game flims (C&C3),
so I just want my new computer to be prepared.

I'm no expert on audio

Does it have any hardware for creating sounds? If not, Vista probably
won't even look for audio codecs to install.

My new computer has SoundMax mobo audio (disabled) and a Creative X-FI sound
card.

Im confused because my older Dell computer had categories "Audio Codecs" and
"Video Codecs" listed in the Device Manager under "Sound, Video, and Game
Controllers", and my new Vista computer only lists my two hardware options
and my USB headset.

No Codecs are listed in the Device Manager...

The old Codecs listing was confusing and deceptive in XP, it's gone in Vista
and you should really be glad. =\ (That doesn't ignore the idea that a
"full" codec manager would be interesting, but the one from XP and previous
Windows versions was pretty flawed/limited.)

Most games shouldn't use anything special audio-codec-wise.
