Audio Codecs and the Registry

I am trying to figure out what is happening in my W2K system.
I have a listing of codecs from the properties page on Audio Codecs.
The page lists all codecs I beleive to be installed on my system
I've verified that the DLL's exist and that the coressponding reg entries
match the filenames exactly

The problem occurs when I click on the properties page of ANY codec. Upon
closing the prop-page I lose the last 4 codecs from the listing. The only
way to get them back is close the listing page and re-open. The codecs
appear to work, but I do have occasional system freezes that I have
determined may be related to audio.

My question is, is there a invalid reg entry that I'm overlooking or is
there something else crazy going on?
